June brought many adventures for our family as Jackson and Sarabeth embarked on their first ever sleep away camp experiences in Brevard, North Carolina at Camp Carolina for boys for Jackson and Keystone Camp for girls for Sarabeth. They both did the June 3 week sessions and did great and we got a bit of a break in all of this too while staying in our RV at Mountain Falls which is like an adult summer camp!! We were able to work remotely and enjoyed three weeks exploring the area and even learned to play pickelball! From a weekend in Highlands with a stay at the Old Edwards' Inn to a drive on the blue ridge parkway we had a wonderful time but I sure did miss Jackson and Sarabeth. Technology made things easy as there was an app that would send me photos of Sarabeth at camp and Jackson's camp also sent photos regularly. There is also an app to send them an email letter daily or also snail mail. We had fun doing that and even were able to send Sarabeth some watermelons at camp and a fruit basket as well as some packages to Jackson! Once we got the kids back we left Mountain falls and headed north to meet the McManus family at Ameria's rollercoast, Cedar Point for a few days and nights along Lake Erie. On this trip we stayed at the brand new Cedar Point campground with beautiful sites backing right up to the lake and alongside a back entrance trail we could take to get into the park. It really was an amazing couple of fun days with good friends and memories none of us will forget. We even snuck in a ferry ride day trip over to Put N' Bay!
And after 3 glorious weeks in the mountains it was time to roll on North towards the Midwest for a fantastic stop at Cedar Point and then some family time to celebrate Papa's 60th birthday Mud Hens style and on to Michigan for a fabulous lake filled 4th of July celebration capped off with a tour of Northern Michigan, Mackinac Island and the UP!!! July, we're coming for you!!
