This past weekend we had an impromptu visit at our home with Grandma and Grandpa that came together at the last minute! They drove down from Ohio with our dining room table and 6 chairs my dad restored, as well as a coffee table that had belonged to his mother. The dining room set was not family furniture, just something he found in his travels and saved. I will post pictures of the furniture once we have a chandelier so it is lit right. I may have a few photos on my phone to post for now but without the right light it does not do it justice. We also now have to get a rug put in under the table. We waited on the rug and the chandelier until we saw the furniture so it would all go together.
We had exceptional weather all weekend and enjoyed a lot of time outdoors on our patio and by the fire pit one night. We made it to the beach Sunday morning and back to the beach Sunday evening to see the super moon rising over the ocean and we capped off the weekend with Sunday dinner at the Moorings and said our good byes this morning before the kids were whisked off to school and Jon and I headed off to work! We even squeezed in an early Christmas gift exchange and sent gifts back north for other family members with them! It was a whirlwind weekend but we had a great visit and made some special memories and they were our first overnight guests in our new home! I am sure there will be more memories to be made around our new dining room table!! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for making the trip to and from Florida by car, and for spending the weekend with us in our new home!!!
I hope to catch up a bit on the blog this coming weekend and actually post some pictures! We have a lake weekend ahead, JUST OUR FAMILY OVER THERE...YEAH....and there is a cold front expected tomorrow as well so it should be really nice...highs in the 70's lows in the upper 50's...perfect fall lake weekend and we need it after the chaos that was October which started with the crazy hurricane, evacuation, and then re-group and mass clean up afterwards followed by Halloween!!! I have uploaded many pictures here from our fall adventures this past month as we prepared for Halloween! I volunteered at the school last week Friday for Sarabeth's class Halloween party so got some cute pictures there, and in the midst of all of this Sarabeth was having trouble reading letters and I got her eyes examined and turns out poor baby cannot see well and needs glasses so the last pictures are of her wearing her new glasses. The place has limited selection so we are going to look for a few more pairs as choices but in the interim these will work!!
The kids have a noon dismissal tomorrow so we are heading out of town this afternoon and skipping the few hours of school tomorrow to get a nice long weekend out of this. When we return we will be gearing up for a visit from Grandma and Grandpa who are graciously driving down our dining room table and chairs and will spend the following weekend with us before heading back north. Then we will be getting ready for our school's biggest fundraiser which is the Harvest Festival and also our local Children's Theater fundraiser, the Festival of Trees. I LOVE both of these events and look forward to working a booth again this year at the Harvest Festival with the kids (we get to work the gone fishing game booth on Saturday afternoon)...teaches them what it means to volunteer and is really fun too! I also love the Festival of Trees as it kicks off the holidays and then the following days our family on the O'Bryant side will be rolling into town family by family for a great Thanksgiving week together in Vero! What a November we have ahead! We are also starting to think about Christmas this year as we will have some early celebrations with family visiting in November, and also our trip to Colorado between Christmas and New Year's. This year is sure to go out with a bang due to all of the action in the last few months!!
Here are some pictures from Halloween. We hosted a group at our house as our neighborhood is grand central station in Vero for trick or treat and everyone really did get in to decorating the houses on our street. It was a lot of work but a lot of fun too! This year Jackson was a zombie hunter and Sarabeth was a rainbow fairy princess! Could not have been two more different costumes but each suited them both perfectly! I only wish I had taken more pictures but alas Jon had my phone hooked up to his bose player for music for the party...ahhh so limited pictures:(
