Spring Break 2014!!!
We have had one heck of a spring break week here!! We started it off last week Thursday night when we went down to Hollywood, Florida to visit the Sherman family for a long weekend. We had a great time catching up with them, enjoyed a few lazy much needed days of fun and sun at the beach, ate good food, and had a general really good time. Favorites at Hollywood always include spending time with the Shermans at the beach and the swap shop, hanging out in their courtyard and condo, and enjoying the many sites and restaurants and shops along the Hollywood boardwalk adjacent to the beach. We take our bikes each year and ride along the boardwalk several mornings of our trip and enjoy breakfast beachside as the morning sets in and the sun rises. That is probably my single favorite tradition we've started with doing this trip each year. We also ate at some now infamous places including Nick's Bar for great oysters, Jimbo's sandbar for great fish sandwiches and Le Tub for world famous hamburgers (I got the Greek salad as I'm not a hamburger fan and it was wonderful too)!!!
When we returned home we all worked one day (Tuesday of this past week) and then we were off again on Wednesday as McIntire family came to stay with us for a day and night. They are our friends from college and Kristin and Mark have been blessed with 4 wonderful children ages 7-4 months! We had a ball and had a nice bright sunny day despite chillier than normal temps for this time of year. We did not let a wind out of the north spoil our fun day and night together. We enjoyed the outdoors and the sun and the backyard swing set, as well as bikes and scooters, sidewalk chalk, you name it! We had a grand sleep over that night with lots of late night laughter from adults and kids alike. Thursday brought another work day for us and then Thursday night Mimi and Papa flew in for a long weekend with us to cap off our spring break week! We enjoyed several days at the beach and pool with them, Jon and Papa got to golf one day, we had several dinners as a group and one night an adults out night and we capped the weekend off with brunch on our patio in the sunshine before it was time for them to pack up and head back home. I cannot think of a better way to have a spring break week and all of these visits were NOT planned around our kid's spring break, it just happened that way. I love when things come together like that!
I will let the photos tell the story of our past week and a half with all of our Ohio visitors! What a great spring break we all had!!
