Tropical Storm Isaac...

Tropical Storm/Hurricane Issac is upon us...lots of rain bands coming through today and wind.  Our County is on the EAST coast of FLorida so will not be in the path of hurricane force winds that will lash the west coast of Florida but we are under a tropical storm warning all day today and through tonight.  They are expecting the worst weather later this afternoon and around dinner time and early evening. Just in case we lose power we've gathered up our flashlights and candles but that is really it.  It's a rain and slight wind event.  We put the trash cans in the garage, secured the swing set and took the flag down, layed down the umbrellas on the patio and the lounge chairs but that's about it thankfully.

I've been at work most of the day working on a few big projects since we are taking a long 4 day weekend this coming weekend for a trip to Disney for Labor Day.  Got to pay to play when you own a business and every once in a few weeks I have to work a day like this when it is quiet, no phones ringing or other daily business day type distractiosn going on.  Phew, at least I picked a good day to work, the weather is TERRIBLE.

Stay tuned for a sunny day when I can post pictures of our latest surprise...................no need to unveil this on a wet nasty day!!

First day of Pre-k school!!

Today was Jackson's first day of his pre-k class at his school.  We took a few first day of school pictures just to document this special day.  Next year he will be wearing a uniform getting ready to go to a "real school" for kindergarten, wow!! For now though, we wil enjoy this pre-k year.

Even Sarabeth and Miss Ann joined in on the picture fun.  I have been promising a picture of Miss Ann for a while now but mornigns and me getting out of the house in general is a hectic process so, I finally got one today.  Sarabeth is under the weather with her dumb cold so she was not dressed yet this morning but that's ok, she looks as sweet as she is in her Tinkerbell jammies. Have a great week everyone!!

Sunday morning beach pics

We had a pretty restful weekend here, not much going on at all for a change which is really nice.  We had two families and their kids over for a bbq and pool party last night which is always a good time but other than that, we were not up to much.  We took it easy this morning and after a while we decided to get out of the house for a bit so we loaded up the golf cart with our beach gear and headed on out to the beach!  It was fun, the water was cooler than normal (a welcome relief from our daily 90+ degrees HOT DAYS and searing strong summer sun, and the water was also very very clear almost like on the gulf side at Siesta Key, another nice thing about the ocean in the summer months here!  The kids both love the beach although while Jack has gotten very easy and enjoys to play on his own in the sand and build things, his sister is ANOTHER STORY and is ALL OVER the place and literally runs right into the water, over and over again and so I stand at the water's edge and play life guard the whole time but her belly laughs when she feels the water hit her legs and feet and when I Swoop her up out of the way of a big wave makes it all worth it:)

Here are just a few quick shots from our little point and shoot that I keep in the beach bag!  We did not stay much more than an hour as it was hot and we all came back for a quick dip in the pool before lunch and nap time.  Poor SB has caught a bit of a cold from big brother (thanks to being back at school for ONE whole week, both kids are once again sick).  We have been 100% healthy since May (coincidentally when they both stopped going ot school) and 5 days back in for one of them and we're sick again.....I smell a cuplrit.  So, luckily she gets Miss Ann to herself all week and she is sure to get lots of love and rest.  Despite not feeling her best she was as sweet as can be this weekend and in just the past week or so, we are hearing SO MANY words from her...a few are: baby, book, outside, all done, dog, ball, jack, mama, daddy, up, paci, go, NO (said in response to just about anything), uh oh, yeah, and that's all I can think of but she is always talking in some manner these days whether it is one of the words above, or gibberish...this girl has a lot to say and it is SO cute.  Another new thing she really likes these days is reading books.  She has this one book that Mimi sent Jackson one Easter called "SOme Bunny Loves You" and if there are 100 books in a stack, she picks that one EVERY SINGLE TIME...don't know what it is but I guess it's her favorite for right now.

In Jackson's world...he starts the 4 year old pre-school VPK class tomorrow at his school, HOW DID THAT HAPPEN??!!  I still remember the first day I left him there at only 8 weeks old, omg.  I will take his "school" pic tomorrow am and post some for you all sometime this week.  He is so very big and tall and happy to be back at school.  He's got a lot of learning to do this year to get all geared up for kindergarten and I think this program will be great.  He's a lefty so we are working hard with him on his letters and writing among other things.   When he's not at school he can be found at home usually in teh pool.  He is a regular fish, LOVES TO SWIM, and most nights after work and dinner we are treated to a "jump show" where he does differnt jumps for us and has us rate his skills.  When he's not in the pool he can also be found at karate or his tennis lessons which he is enjoying, or another new favorite is to go to the driving range or golf course with daddy and play a few holes.  He's coming along and growing up to be such a good boy.

Tuesday night pictures

It seems like I never take just random pictures of the kids around the house anymore...I did this all the time when it was just Jackson and SB is so sweet and pretty, I don't want to miss out on this adorable phase she is in so last night I got the camera out and snapped away while she played in the family room.  She is a hard subject to photograph right now as she is always running around and I mean running literally...she has developed the speed walk/run and can get anywhere in a flash. Here are some pictures of her just as she is at just past 14 months!!  She loves her paci, silkies, her big brother, she loves to play outside and to swim in the pool, and she LOVES her shoes.  You put a pair of shoes on this girl and she is visibly delighted...I think we are in trouble in that deptarment down the road!!

monday monday

Another Monday is upon us......another weekend has gone by (bummer).  We had a nice weekend home with not too much going on.  Friday night we did the usual swimming and dinner and The Moorings had bounce house mania for this Friday night with three bounce houses and a water slide set up on the putting green so Jackson was in HEAVEN.

Saturday we got some things done on the patio and in the yard, Saturday afternoon Jon and I golfed 9 holes and then had a dinner date with another couple.  Sunday we just got more done around the house and I got a lot done in preparation for my big office move!  That's right...we have one more move up our sleeves in this crazy calendar year filled with moves and transition but luckily this one is not too far, just downstairs in my same building which is a really great beachside location not even 10 minutes from our house, I could not ask for more!

I have been very busy these past 10 months...busier than I could have imagined or hoped for and as a result, I need more space to continue servicing clients at the level they have become accustomed to and it is time for me to hire a paralegal to work full time as well.  I've gotten by these past 10 months doing a lot of my own "grunt" work, and with an answering service, a book keeper, and two paralegals working as independent contractors helping me with real estate and probate and estate planning work but it is time to hire someone to answer the phones full time, help with clerical work and basically be my right hand.  I've got someone good in mind and plan for her to start the middle of September.  This has been on my mind a lot these past few months as business has grown and I have worked A LOT but there was no space available and I was also trying to build up a decent reserve so we had the funds to make the move when the time came.  Then, all of the sudden, my landlord approached me as he sees the volume of work I am doing and sees that i have outgrown the executive suite set up I am in.  The two men downstairs in what is the PERFECT space for my office are vacating September first and we will start to move in then.  The landlord is building the space out more to my liking and how I need to use it, we have painters set up to head in and I am working with an interior decrotator to help get the furnishings and window treatments we need to make the office really look amazing.  We've also consulted with a networking company as the space needs to be wired with a server and phone system...this is the real deal people!!   I can't wait for the middle to end of September when I can post pictures and really unveil my law firm to you all!  What a year this has been.

link to SB's 12 month photos

Never mind that Sarabeth is now over 14th months old...things take a while these days...we did have the 12 month shots taken a while ago, I am just now getting around to sharing the link with everyone.  They turned out really well, she is such a sweet little angel at this age.

Sea World for the weekend

We took a long weekend this past weekend and went to enjoy some of Florida's greatest theme parks that are right in our own backyard, Sea World and Aquatica, Sea World's water park.  We've been to Sea World many times, but never to Aquatica and when you are brave enough to hit theme parks in AUGUST in ORLANDO...you would be wise to work in a day at the water park like we did!  We LOVED Aquatica and will definitely go back for a day next summer.  It is a HUGE park with things to do for all ages.  I was not sure how the day would go since we have a 3  year age gap but it worked out well.  We did splurge MAJORLY and rented a private cabana for the day but I would NOT go to this park with little ones without it this time of year.  It is just too hot and if you are going to get your money's worth and be there for the day, spend the extra money so you can enjoy yourself and buy your family a space for privacy and SHADE.  SB took two naps in the cabana, pool noise, music and all, I put the flaps down and laid back the stroller, gave her silky and paci and she was good to go both times.  I love when a plan works so well!!  Jackson was a little warrior and while he enjoyed the smaller slides and area for his age group (48 inches and under only) with plenty of zero entry pools, smaller slides and splash pad type things, he of course being the brave boy that he is, had to try the BIG KID slides which he could ride as he is now 42 inches., these are all 42 inches and up and I can tell you, I had to ride the "racing slide" with him not once but twice, tabogan style, each on our own tabogon and it scared me to death, I have no idea how he did it but he rode it 5 times and it was his favorite.  Pictures coming but it is the one with all of the tubes, and in pink, purple yellow and green, and yes, it looks as big as the picture and it is!!  They had a lot of variety in things to eat and drink and all kinds of fun things including a wave pool and sand beach.  Also there was a whole part of the park that we did not go to as those were 48 inches and over only and for adults and really big kids.  So, there is lots to do and see for the whole family and I would highly recommend this park.

We also did regular Sea World and did a few hours on Friday (but it was so hot) and then we went back Saturday night to see Shamu's night show and a few other things including the Atlantis water ride that Jack was also tall enough to ride this trip (Sea World's version of Splash Mountain)!

One night we hit up DownTown Disney for dinner and ate at the very appropriate T-Rex restaurant (we've taken Jack there twice before but he does not remember) so he LOVED it this time.  He is very into dinosaurs right now.  Last night after Aquatica by day and Sea World shamu show by night, we just ended up back at the hotel and pool that was also a Sea World themed hotel being right across the street from the parks!  I read about this place in a Parent's magazine and it got good reviews.  Nothing fancy, just a standard marriot springhill suites but everything is Sea World themed and it included a full family breakfast each morning down in the lobby and was as good as anywhere else for breakfast all for 109.00 a night in a brand new hotel, I'll take that.  They included info. each day in our room for visiting the sea world parks including show times and it included a free shuttle to the parks which was nice for those who traveled from much farther away than we did.  I am always amazed at the number of Europeans who visit Orlando in the summer, but they were there in droves this time!  I think it is funny as that is what they think our country is like and Orlando is  FAR CRY from the real USA.  That is all they see though.  We met a family from England and they spent a week at our hotel and did Sea World and were continuing their "holiday" and transfering to Disney for two weeks!  I cannot imagine taking that much vacation but that is their culture much less spending THREE WEEKS in Orlando...I would gain 20 pounds and be broke.  Oh well, to each his own!    We are home safe and sound and ready to face another busy week.
